191 participants joined a unique cross-border orienteering experience connecting Hungary, Austria and Slovenia
On 30 August 2026, the ORIUNITE project brought together 191 participants for the 3 Borders Orienteering Event, held in the remarkable area where Hungary, Austria and Slovenia meet.
Organised by Sibaris Club Hungary, the event invited participants to navigate a single orienteering course extending across three different countries. Surrounded by beautiful forest landscapes, participants tested their navigation skills and endurance while repeatedly crossing national borders during the race.
The strong attendance and enthusiastic participation made the event a great success. Experienced orienteers and newcomers came together to explore the cross-border area, meet people from different communities and share an experience combining sport, nature and intercultural connection.
More than just an orienteering competition, the event reflected the central message of ORIUNITE: borders do not have to represent separation. Through sport, they can become meeting points where people connect, cooperate and build shared experiences.
The course transformed the tripoint between Hungary, Austria and Slovenia into a symbolic space of unity. Every control point represented another step along a shared journey that went beyond geographical boundaries.

With 191 people taking part, the 3 Borders Orienteering Event demonstrated the power of orienteering to bring communities together and encourage participants to discover neighbouring territories from a new perspective.
From crossing points to connection points, this event brought the ORIUNITE vision to life—one map, three countries and one shared adventure.
